CMA Gala of Appreciation - The Quebec CMA Order gives Cascades an award

The Ordre des comptables en management accrédités du Québec (CMA) awarded ten Forget-Me-Not trophies on June 2 as part of its Gala of Appreciation to pay tribute to the greatest achievements of last year, particularly in terms of employment and partnership with employers.

Thus, Cascades won the Employer of the Year trophy for its contribution to the influence of the CMA designation. Employing some 90 CMAs and candidates to the profession, Cascades largely recognizes CMAs’ distinctive expertise and ability to innovate. Furthermore, it works closely with the Order by using its placement service and actively participating in the recruiting cocktails organized by the Order and its student committees throughout Quebec.

Another Forget-Me-Not for Collaborator of the Year was also awarded to Richard Beauregard for his contribution to the advancement and influence of the CMA profession while he was manager of the Financial Officer/Internal Auditor Recruitment and Development Program of the Office of the Comptroller General of Canada. With a reputation for excellence in federal public service, the program made it possible to recruit 281 members and candidates to the profession in the last six years.

The Interuniversity Recruiting Cocktail, organized by the CMA Student Committees of UQAM, HEC Montreal, McGill University and Concordia University, is the winner of the Forget-Me-Not of Distinction trophy. Nearly 25 companies participated in March in this activity which brought together a record number of 166 participants from the four Montreal universities. One attending employer even recruited fifteen students for practical work terms and five permanent employees.

In addition, the CMA Student Committee at HEC Montreal received the CMA Student Committee of the Year trophy specifically for organizing many activities in which more than 160 students took part. For breathing new life into the CMA Student Committee of the Université du Québec en Outaouais, Joël Carpentier earned the Forget-Me-Not for Student of the Year. The CMA Student Committee of Université Laval won the Student Activity of the Year trophy for organizing the 2007 CMA Student Congress, which drew nearly 200 participants.

It was awarded to Jean Royer, CMA, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Cossette Communication Group for successfully conducting the Group’s first public offering and leading its expansion abroad.

Recipient of the CMA of the Year trophy, Luc Richard, CMA, Chief Operating Officer at Ubisoft Quebec, was honored for his volunteer work and contribution to the influence of the profession and the Order. President of the Quebec Chapter, Mr. Richard formed a dynamic team that organized activities which drew more than 800 people last year.

The Chapter of the Year trophy was awarded to the Montreal Chapter for organizing high-caliber, high-quality activities last year. The Central Quebec Chapter also earned the Activity of the Year trophy for the dinner conference entitled Managing Stress through Humor, a networking activity with an extremely high participation rate.
