Integration of the CMA Strategic Leadership Program (SLP) in the Master of Business Administration for Management Accountants (MBA-MA) Program
Montreal, February 16, 2009 – The Ordre des comptables en management accrédités du Québec (CMA) and the Université de Sherbrooke today renewed the memorandum of understanding that has linked them since 1994. This memorandum provides for the recognition of the knowledge acquired in the CMA Strategic Leadership Program (SLP) as part of the new version of the Master of Business Administration for Management Accountants (MBA-MA) program offered at the Université de Sherbrooke.
“The agreement signed today conveys our mutual concern for adapting to the changing training needs of management accounting professionals," said the Chair of the Order's Board, Claude Paul-Hus, FCMA. Through greater harmonization of the master’s program with the CMA Strategic Leadership Program, which was updated two years ago, the Université de Sherbrooke and the Order are showing that their partnership is changing in step with market needs, from the perspective of both students and employers. ”
“This agreement is part of our mission to provide an education based on practical experience. This program helps improve that part of our contribution to modern society,” said Roger Noël, Dean of the Faculty of Administration at Université de Sherbrooke.
In keeping with the CMA Competency Map, the educational approach used is based on student skills development (expertise), attitudes (people skills) and knowledge. This new formula makes use of such dynamic and interactive learning methods as presentations, discussions, teamwork and a supervised professional experience.
