Montreal , June 17, 2009 – The Ordre des comptables en management accrédités du Québec (CMA) awarded ten Forget-Me-Not trophies at its Gala of Appreciation on June 6 to honour the top achievements of last year.

DECIMAL won the trophy for Employer of the Year for its contribution to the influence of the CMA designation. DECIMAL, an SME that designs specialized corporate performance management solutions, has a staff of 34 employees that includes no less than seven CMAs and eight candidates involved in the process leading to this highly coveted designation. DECIMAL demonstrated its outstanding contribution to the influence of the CMA profession this year through its exemplary participation in all recruiting activities organized by the Order and student committees across the province.

The Elite CMA trophy rewards a member who has distinguished him or herself in his or her professional activities in the last five years. It was awarded this year to Benoît Raymond, CMA, President and CEO and Chair of the Board of Directors of Groupe Alta since 2006 and a CMA for 12 years. Mr. Raymond successfully completed a major project involving the integration of new imaging and topography data acquisition technologies to improve the performance of airplanes, which enabled Groupe Alta to be even more competitive and achieve enviable growth in the market.

The Forget-Me-Not for Collaborator of the Year was presented to Éric Chartier, professor in the Department of Accountancy of the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) and the DCS-Bachelor of Accountancy program offered in partnership by UQTR and Collège Édouard-Montpetit. Mr. Chartier is known by students and his peers for the quality of his teaching, enthusiasm and commitment to management accounting, a course he has taught with passion for more than five years.

Antoine D’Alo, student at the School of Management (ESG) of the Université du Québec à Montréal, was awarded the Distinction Forget-Me-Not trophy. Member of the CMA Student Committee of the ESG-UQAM for three years, he has chaired it in the last two. Mr. D’Alo is known as a leader and motivator. Driven by his interest in the CMA profession, he communicates freely with other students.

The Student Committee of the Year trophy was presented to the CMA Committee of the Université du Québec à Rimouski – Lévis campus, which succeeded in showcasing the CMA profession to students at this institution. Composed of proactive and dynamic students, this student committee has proved its flexibility, judgment and professionalism. Its chair, Lisa Lévesque, also won the Forget-Me-Not for Student of the Year, for her involvement in the Student Committee and other achievements.

The CMA Student Committee of the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue won the  Student Activity of the Year trophy for organizing the “2009 Wine and Cheese” activity, which succeeded in attracting many students, employers and CMAs from the region.

President of the Montreal Chapter for two years, Robert Landry, CMA, Director of Consulting at Ray & Berndtson, received the Forget-Me-Not for CMA of the Year. In his two terms, Mr. Landry has surrounded himself with a solid, enthusiastic team that he was able to inspire in important areas such as social responsibility and networking.

The Chapter of the Year trophy was given to the Montreal Chapter for the overall quality of its achievements. As for the Forget-Me-Not for Activity of the Year, it was also presented to the Montreal Chapter for the CMA Awards Ceremony.

The 2009 CMA Golf Classic raises $20,400 for the CMA Order Foundation

The CMA Golf Classic took place on Friday, June 5 on the wonderful Golf de la Faune course in Quebec City. At this event, colleagues, collaborators and friends of CMAs were able to kill two birds with one stone by taking advantage of the magnificent day and raising $20,400 to benefit the new CMA Order Foundation. The Foundation is intended to encourage the excellence and development of the accounting profession and as part of its responsibilities, awards scholarships, financial aid and funding for various projects.
