Montreal, June 9, 2011 – The Ordre des comptables en management accrédités du Québec (CMA) awarded nine Forget-Me-Not trophies at its Gala of Appreciation on June 4 to honour the contributions of its partners and generous volunteers on student committees and at the chapters/regional councils last year.
The Desjardins Group won the trophy for Employer of the Year for its contribution to the influence of the CMA designation. In Quebec, the Group employs 218 CMAs and 27 candidates to the profession. The Desjardins Group’s contribution this year has resulted in an increased presence in the student community. The Group also set itself apart by its generous contribution to the fundraising campaign of the CMA Foundation, thereby showing its concern for supporting the next generation.
The Elite CMA trophy rewards a member, who is chosen from a group of selected candidates from each region of Quebec, for distinguishing him or herself in his or her professional activities. At this 22nd Gala, the reward was given to Sylvie Béchard, CMA, Vice President, Financial Governance and Internal Controls of the Desjardins Group since 2009. Thanks to her leadership, Béchard was able to mobilize several teams to achieve a common objective and implement an imposing number of governance and control mechanisms.
As for the Forget-Me-Not for Collaborator of the Year, it was given to Winston McQuade, long-time Radio-Canada host, renowned painter and master of ceremony at the CMA Graduation Ceremony, a role that he has held for twenty years. Through his exemplary generosity, McQuade has made a significant contribution to the prestige of the profession.
Another Forget-Me-Not, the Student Committee of the Year trophy, was given to the CMA Student Committee at the Université de Sherbrooke. This committee stood out in many respects, such as by providing outstanding visibility to the profession with the goal of inspiring students to join the next generation of CMAs.
